SALEM, Va. – Head Coach
Bert Poole officially reached the 100-win plateau for Averett University women's tennis, as the Cougars dispatched Roanoke College, 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Other than a close 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles by the likes of
Dilara Sultanova and
Jennika Jaison, the other squads zeroed the rest of the matches, as Averett (10-3, 5-0 ODAC) took the first point as singles play loomed.
The Cougars accrued six more wins to complete their eighth shutout of the year.
Amelie Schroeder moved to 8-1 overall on the year, as she won versus Roanoke's (3-9, 2-3 ODAC) Victoria Rios, only losing a game.
Annika Kellerer did the same, winning her team-leading ninth singles match of 2024-25 versus Raygan Wade, 6-0, 6-4.
Averett faces its toughest test this upcoming Sunday, Apr. 6, heading up to Virginia-based Lexington to battle perennial conference threat, No. 13 ranked Washington and Lee University. Start time between the stern ODAC squads is set for 3 p.m.
