HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Averett University men's lacrosse ended its 2025 campaign with a 19-6 loss at Hampden-Sydney College on Friday night.
Hampden-Sydney (12-5, 7-3 ODAC) opened with a flurry of scores, having a 3-0 advantage with one period down.
Emmett Wood broke the ice for Averett twice as the quarters flipped (4-13, 1-9 ODAC), but the Tigers had all the momentum on their side in an eight-goal stanza to lead 11-2 at the break.
The Cougars only trailed Hampden-Sydney 3-2 in goals throughout the third quarter, as the visitors attempted to chip away.
Zachary Hulbert added his second point with a score, along with teammate
Tigran Ceesay, but 14-3 was the score line headed into the last period.
Dawson Hobbs and
Brayton Powers were able to sign off on their Averett tenures with one netter each in the final period, but the home team kept its scoring consistent, with five more on its end to cap off the 19-6 score.
Ceesay led the effort for the visitors with three points, including a pair of assists.
Zachary Hulbert notched a two-point night with both being on the goal and assist efforts. Wood notched two scores tonight, making it his sixth multi-goal contest of the season.
Giovanni D'Amico tallied five ground balls on defense, leading the Cougars. Along with D'Amico,
Deven Perry and
Casey Peterson tied for the most caused turnovers for Averett with two each amongst the group.
With fifteen more saves tonight, freshman goalkeeper
Robbie Isenhour finished 2025 atop the ODAC in saves and saves per game, with 253 and 15.81, respectively. Isenhour's 253 saves broke the all-time saves record in a single season, passing fellow teammate
Cameron Prutzman.
The Cougars, under head manager Brian Habick, doubled its win total from the previous season, finishing 4-13, and 1-9 throughout conference contests.
