Track & field competes in Day 1 of ODAC Outdoor Championships

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Averett University track and field had a light Friday of action at Day 1 of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.

On track, senior Nick Andrews and sophomore Hailey Juhasz represented the Cougars on the men's and women's side respectively. Juhasz kicked the Cougars' day of running off in the women's 400m, where Averett's soccer star turned in a solid performance. Juhasz placed 10th with a time of 1:02.92. Juhasz also represented Averett in the women's 100m dash. The sophomore scored a 13th-place result thanks to her 13.14s performance. In the men's 100m dash, Andrews raced his way to an 11th-place finish. The Cougars' wide receiver dashed the length of a football field, and then some, in 11.00s to earn his finishing position.

Only the men's team competed in Friday's field slate of events. Andrews entered into the men's long jump, leaping 5.64m en route to a 24th-place finish. Junior Carter Erickson led Averett's entries in men's shot put. Erickson posted a throw of 10.30m, good for 19th-place among his ODAC competitors.

The Cougars are right back to it on Saturday for Day 2 of the ODAC Outdoor Championships, with action set to get underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.
