No. 21/22 men’s golf moves up to sixth, two Cougars tie for sixth at Camp Lejeune

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — No. 21/22 Averett University men's golf continued its rise on the final day, finishing sixth as a team with two golfers also finishing sixth individually as play concluded Sunday at the 52nd annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Championship hosted at Paradise Point Golf Course's Gold Course. 

Senior Killian O'Reilly and Junior Miguel Rodriguez Lamana both tied for sixth after shooting an even-par 216 over three rounds on the par-72, 6,851-yard course. Penn State University at Altoona's Peter Nusbaum won three event with a 4-under 212. 

Averett, as a team, jumped up two more spots in the standings over the final 18 holes to finish at 21-over collectively. Sandhills Community College and Shenandoah University tied for the top team score at 9-over. 

In addition to O'Reilly and Rodriguez Lamana, freshman Benjamin Afzelius shot 1-under on the final day to finish at 7-over in 33rd place. Freshman Nick Baum finished at 15-over and senior Hunter Crute ended the 54-hole event at 26-over.
