SALEM, Va. — As Averett University softball heads into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference postseason, first-year head coach Anna Coleman has seen growth from her team all season. While making the tournament was a goal, they aren't satisfied with just accomplishing that.

Time: Sunday, May 4, 12 p.m. (Moyer Softball Complex, Salem, Va.)

The Series: Averett is 9-32 against Virginia Wesleyan since 1995. The Marlins have won the last eight meetings, including a pair of games earlier this season on March 30 at Averett. Virginia Wesleyan won 6-2 and 10-0 (in five innings).
Averett at a Glance: Averett enters the ODAC postseason as the No. 8 seed. The Cougars lost their last four games of the regular season on the road. Averett has shown signs of high caliber play at times, knocking off then-No. 19 Muskingum University and playing tight matchups against several other nationally ranked opponents this season.
Virginia Wesleyan at a Glance: The Marlins are the No. 1 seed in the ODAC postseason, going 21-1 in conference play this season. Their only ODAC loss came in extra innings to Bridgewater College. They have a five-game winning streak entering postseason play.
