DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball hosted Randolph-Macon College for a conference match on Friday, where Averett fell in straight sets, marking their second conference loss of the season.
Averett (2-8, 0-2 ODAC) was first to take a lead in Set 1, but Randolph-Macon (7-2, 2-0 ODAC) responded quickly, taking the set 25-23.
The Cougars stayed within striking distance of the Yellow Jackets throughout the second set, but Randolph-Macon's offense was too strong, defeating the Cougars 25-21 in Set 2.
Randolph-Macon went on to take the third and final set with a score of 25-9, clutching their second conference win of the season.
Junior Sydney Mounce recorded eight kills for the Cougars, while juniors Tahani Villines and Allie Wilkerson had seven a piece.
Senior setter Dayton Moore had 12 assists. Freshman Alyssa Hatcher recorded eight.
On the Cougar defense, junior Kadence Woodlief had 11 digs, while Villines had eight. Sophomore Kylie Rains and Moore had eight digs each.
The Cougars are back on the court Saturday when they host No. 23 Virginia Wesleyan University for a conference match at 11 a.m.
