DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's volleyball fell in straight sets to Roanoke College during a home conference match on Tuesday.
Averett (2-10, 0-4 ODAC) fought out of the gates but ultimately came up short against Roanoke (8-7, 3-2 ODAC) in straight sets. The Maroons clinched their victory with scores of 25-12, 27-25 and 25-19.
The highlight of the night for the home side was no doubt the thrilling second set. The Cougars and Maroons swapped runs early in the set, going blow for blow late before momentum swung in favor of Roanoke, who was able to close out the Cougars.

Tahani Villines led the Cougars with nine kills, while fellow juniors
Sydney Mounce and
Allie Wilkerson had seven a piece. Senior
Dayton Moore had 15 assists on the night and freshman
Alyssa Hatcher had 11. Defensively, sophomore libero
Kyleigh Rains had 17 digs.
The Cougars travel to Bridgewater, Virginia on Friday for a conference match against Bridgewater College on Friday, October 3rd at 6 p.m.
