PINEHURST, N.C. – Averett University men's golf finished out the third round to cap off the Hampden-Sydney College Tiger Invitational at Forest Creek Golf Club with a team score of 50-over-par 864, and a 20th place finish.
Freshman
Chase Myers shot his best round with a par score, and three-over altogether, with a 30th place finish. Sophomore
Benjamin Afzelius went three-over in round three and finished 16-over-par for a 75th-place individual placing. Sophomores
Alexander Wirenlind and
Zach Alway had five and six-over days en route to 24-over and 17-over par finishes, respectively.
Lukas Newton concluded the group's play with an 11-over-par day, and 20-over finish.
Nationally sixth-ranked Kevin Mu of Emory University took home first place with a 10-under final score, while 11th-ranked Methodist finished first amongst all teams with a collective 13-under score.
The golf Cougars make their way to Williamsburg, Virginia next for The Ruckus, hosted by Premier College Tournaments at Williamsburg Golf Club. Play is set to be from March 21-22.
