DANVILLE, Va. -- Averett University football head coach Matt Quinn introduced the hiring of new cornerbacks coach Brandon Bailey.

A former standout cornerback both professionally and collegiately, Bailey last played in the Arena Football League from 2019-2022. He featured on rosters for teams such as the Arizona Wranglers, Frisco Fighters, the Green Bay Blizzard, and the Bismarck Bucks.

Before that, Bailey was invited to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons' rookie minicamp and OTAs in 2018.

Bailey played his college ball at Savannah State University from 2014-2018, where he was a four-year starter and team captain. During his time there, Bailey was named the team's best defensive back award winner in his freshman and sophomore seasons and was a former MEAC player of the week. He led the Tigers in pass breakup and tackles in both his first two years on the team, and was recognized for his leadership, preparation, and communication in the secondary.

Before his time at Savannah State, Bailey attended Fork Union Military Academy, where he was named to the All Post-Graduate First Team. In high school, Bailey was a team captain, defensive MVP and defensive player of the week at Woodruff High School, as well as a two-time state champion at Byrnes High School.

Hailing from Duncan, South Carolina, Bailey earned his Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Savannah State University in 2018.
