DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University women's basketball senior Brianna Sams and junior Zariia America, for their achievements both on and off the court, were honored with 2025-26 Academic All-District distinction from the College Sports Communicators, the organization unveiled on Tuesday.

Sams, a forward from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, played in all 24 games for the Cougars this past season with 15 starts. Sams averaged 3.0 points and 2.4 rebounds, and scored a season-high 12 points twice.

America, a guard from Williamsburg, Virginia, also played in every game for Averett in 2025-26, with 18 starts made. America averaged 6.2 points and 4.0 rebounds, and tied her career-high in points with 13.

This marks women's basketball's first CSC Academic All-District selections since the 2023-24 season, when Sams earned her first, along with Talia Prosper.
