Women’s tennis gains road triumph over Johnson C. Smith

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Averett University women's tennis won its sixth straight match on Tuesday afternoon with a 6-1 decision at Division-II Johnson C. Smith University.

Averett (8-2) won the two doubles matches at stake to kick off the battle. Senior Elisa Battermann and junior Dilara Sultanova won at the first slot, 6-3 versus Johnson C. Smith's (4-4) Divija Manneni and Markayla Ramos, before senior Brenda Poulakidas and sophomore Sunna Maass won their match, 6-2 to take the first team point.

The Golden Bulls won one of the singles duals, but the Cougars had the upper hand overall. Five out of six wins decided the action, as Sultanova and Boddington went two for two on the day with their own respective singles wins.

Back to ODAC play, Averett goes to nearby Randolph College for a match on Saturday, April 4. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
