LYNCHBURG, Va. — Averett University baseball dropped both games of an ODAC doubleheader to No. 2 Lynchburg on Saturday.
Averett (12-17, 5-10 ODAC) came up short against No. 2 Lynchburg (24-3-1, 12-0-1 ODAC), falling 12/0 in Game 1 and 14-4 in Game 2.
In the opener, the Cougars were limited to four hits as Lynchburg built an early lead with five runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Averett jumped out to a strong start in Game 2, scoring three runs in the first two innings to take an early lead. Senior Luke Keister led the offense with two hits, while junior Jack Turner drove in a run.
Lynchburg responded with a three-run third inning and pulled away with a four-run fourth and five-run seventh to secure the sweep.
Averett baseball is back in action for a road tilt with Guilford College on Wednesday, April 15, at 3 p.m.
