DANVILLE, Va. – For the second straight season, Averett University saw six male student-athletes named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team from the College Sports Communicators, unveiled on Tuesday. Men's golf sophomores

Brayden Smokovitz, and men's volleyball senior
Nicholas Breen and sophomore
Liam Audrain attained the academic and athletic requirements to achieve recognition.
Afzelius, who hails from Gothenburg, Sweden, played in nine events, with one top-10 finish and an average score of 74.9. The business major was selected to the All-ODAC Third Team.
Alway, who hails from Nottingham, England, played across eight events, in which he averaged a score of 78.6 over 233 rounds. Alway broke his personal-best 54-hole score record with a 230 at the Port City Classic from Feb. 2-3.
Clark, a midfielder from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, appeared in 15 games with six starts. The equestrian studies major tallied 15 ground balls and five caused turnovers, and was a co-recipient of the 2025-26 Dr. Frank Campbell Sportsmanship Award at Averett's Night of Champions.
Smokovitz, a long stick midfielder from Apex, North Carolina, appeared in 15 games with three starts. The business administration major had 10 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Breen, a right side from Danville, Virginia, appeared in 103 sets across 29 matches. The biology and environmental science major was third on the team with 158 kills, and also recorded 108 digs and 19 blocks. Breen received three awards at Averett's Night of Champions, which included the men's volleyball team's service award, top male senior GPA, and the Dr. Tommy Foster Male Student-Athlete of the Year award. This marks Breen's second straight All-District honor.
Audrain, an outside hitter from Suffolk, Va., played in 29 matches this past season. The computer science major was second on the team with 219 kills, third in assists with 32, and finished first amongst all Cougars in digs and aces with 194 and 25, respectively.
