DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University football, under first-year head coach Matt Quinn, released their 2026 schedule with times and dates.
The Cougars' 2026 season kicks off at home at Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium against the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops on Sept. 5th. The following weekend, on Sept. 12th, Averett will be on the road for its first road game against Southern Virginia University.Â
Head coach Matt Quinn enters the 2026 season with excitement.
"We're so excited to see them come together in fall camp as a brotherhood and fight together and work together. That's going to be exciting to see," he said. "Our main goal is to play together, represent the 'ville, that's our motto, Vision, integrity, leadership, legacy, and effort. Just giving those every day, and if we take care of those aspects of the program, the wins and growth on the field will happen as well."
The Cougars finish out September with a home bout on Family Weekend against Gallaudet University on the 19th. After a bye week, Averett heads into October for its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference game at Washington and Lee University, on the 3rd.Â
Homecoming Weekend then takes place on Oct. 10, as the Shenandoah University Hornets come to Danville. The following Saturday on Oct. 17, the Cougars host Randolph-Macon College.
Averett hits the road against the likes of Roanoke College and Hampden-Sydney College, on Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, respectively.Â
Senior Day & Military Appreciation Day will be hosted on the final home game of the season, on Nov. 7, versus Guilford College. The Cougars' regular season finale is to be played at Bridgewater College on Nov. 14th.
