DANVILLE, Va. – The Averett University women's soccer team opened its 2026 season on Wednesday night at Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium, as they fell to the Pfeiffer University Falcons, 5-0.
The Falcons (1-0-0) opened the scoring at the 13:03 mark of the first half and added two more goals before halftime to take a 3-0 lead into the break. Pfeiffer continued its momentum in the second half, scoring twice more to secure the 5-0 victory.
Averett (0-1-0) goalkeeper
Krista Hinebaugh played a key role throughout the contest, recorded 12 saves. Freshman goal keeper
Rosie Mondul also made her collegiate debut, as she made one save in the second half.
Offensively, the Cougars recorded two shots.
Marlee Luckett registered one shot, while
Gabriella Alvarado added one shot on goal.
The Cougars will look to bounce back in their next match when they travel to take on the Greensboro College Pride on Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m.
