The Series: Averett leads Southern Virginia 3-1 in the series, but the Knights had the Cougars' upper hand in their last meetup. In Danville last fall, Southern Virginia took a 46-14 decider.
Averett at a Glance: The Cougars lost their season opener at home to N.C. Wesleyan, 27-13. Freshman wideout Zymarcus Stover led all home receivers with eight receptions for 70 yards, while 12 different Averett defensive players recorded at least two combined tackles. 
Southern Virginia at a Glance: Southern Virginia fell in its own season opener to reigning Division III national champions in no. 7 UW-River Falls, 73-7 last weekend. Freshman corner Dallin Heal posted an interception, while sophomore corner Scott Pese led the defensive unit with seven total tackles and two pass breakups.
