GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University men's golf completed the third round of the Gate City Invitational hosted by Greensboro College with a team score of 106-over-par and an 18th-place finish.
Junior
Benjamin Afzelius moved up 14 spots in the final round to tie for 42nd place. Afzelius shot an even-par 72 on the final day, carding birdies on holes 6 and 10.
Sophomore
Nicolas Santoso moved up two spots to tie for 72nd place, shooting 5-over-par with a birdie on hole 14.
The Cougars also received contributions from sophomore
Lucas Milliken, who led Averett with three birdies on the final day.
Huntingdon College, which was nationally ranked No. 1 last season, won the tournament as the Hawks shot 9-under-par as a team.
Averett will travel south to Douglasville, Ga., on Oct. 5-6 to compete in the Oglethorpe University West Pines Invitational.
