EARLYSVILLE, Va. -- Averett University's men's and women's cross country teams opened their season at the NCAA South Regional Preview. The meet was hosted by the University of Lynchburg at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Virginia. The race served as a preview of the upcoming NCAA South Regional Championships.
The Averett men's team began competition at 10 a.m. with the 8K race. Sophomore
Brett Foley led the Cougars, finishing with a time of 35:18.2. Freshman
Mason Robbins made his collegiate debut and finished with a new personal record of 48:11.9.
The women's team competed in the 6K race at 11 a.m. Junior
Sarah Beth Garrett recorded a new personal record with a time of 31:25.7.
The Cougars continue their 2026 season as they prepare for their upcoming cross country meet at the Queens University Royals XC Challenge on Friday, Oct. 9.
