PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Averett University women's golfer Meredith Pegram finished in the top five Tuesday after shooting 22 over par in the two-round tournament. She has now placed in the top five in consecutive invitationals for the first time in her collegiate career.

Pegram was consistently in the top 10 throughout the tournament. After getting off to a hot start, she sat fourth entering Tuesday's final round.

Pegram birdied the par-3 seventh hole to help carry momentum into the back nine, where she finished with four pars.

Juliette Coffey of Batten University won the tournament at 8 over par and carded a field-best 74 in the second round.

Through three tournaments this fall, Pegram has finished in the top 10 in each invitational.

Averett will finish its fall season Oct. 18-19 at The Melee Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
