In coordination with
USA South Athletic Conference's Feb. 24 spectator announcement, Averett University's Department of Athletics announced its new spectator policy for outdoor sports.
Effective Friday, Feb. 26, Averett will permit spectators for baseball, football, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball and men's and women's tennis. All indoor sports will remain free of spectators indefinitely.
Each student-athlete for an Averett outdoor sport will be limited to two spectators per home event. As capacity allows, Averett students, faculty and staff will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis (exact number will be determined on a case-by-case basis). Averett fans will not be allowed to attend another USA South institution's event, and no visiting team spectators will be allowed at Averett.
When spectators arrive, they must abide by the following guidelines:
- No interaction with players or coaches before, during or after the contest and while at E. Stuart James Grant North Campus will be allowed.
- Spectators must vacate the contest venue (or campus, if applicable) immediately upon the contest's conclusion.
- Spectators must follow standard public health protocols set to reduce the spread of COVID-19, in particular wearing appropriate face coverings at all times and maintaining social distance while at the venue.
- No tailgating or gathering of any nature will be permitted while at E. Stuart James Grant North Campus.
- Failure of spectators to abide by the spectator guidelines will result in the spectator being asked to leave the event and/or being barred from attending future events.
- Failure to abide by the spectator guidelines above could result in the game being terminated.
