Evan Ruechel joined the Averett University baseball program as a volunteer assistant coach in August 2017.
A native of Oconto, Wisc., Ruechel served as the assistant coach at NAIA Indiana Wesleyan University in 2016, also working on the facilities grounds crew. He also worked as the assistant coaching and hitting coach for the Champion City Kings of the Prospect League in 2016. Prior to that, he also gained coaching experience as the hitting and catching instructor for the Elgin Warriors Baseball Club from 2014-2017.
Ruechel played junior college baseball at Milwaukee Area Technical College and Rock Valley College before finishing his collegiate career at St. Ambrose University. He also played for the Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league.
Ruechel graduated from St. Ambrose in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in sport management.
