Dr. Jennifer Hughes has worked at Averett University since 2013. She is an assistant professor of English, and also serves as the chair of the department of language, literature, and communication.
Prior to working at Averett, Hughes earned her backelor's degree at Cornell University, master's degree at the University of Virginia and her Ph.D at Emory University.
Hughes grew up in Anderson, South Carolina. She is married to Dr. Jeremy Groskopf, who also works at Averett an instructor of communication studies/journalism, and they have a daughter named Ivy. In her free time, Hughes plays the violin with her daughter and enjoys having adventures with her family.
