Anthony Coleman joined the Averett football staff as a wide receivers coach in February 2013.
Coleman came to Averett following a four-year career at Robert Morris University, where he was a wide receiver and return specialist. Coleman finished his career as the Colonels' record-holder in career kick return yards and kick return yards in a season. He totaled 3,692 career all-purpose yards, which ranks him fouth in program history. During his senior season, he was an All-Northeast Conference selection, was named a Preseason FCS Senior Scout Bowl All-American as a return specialist and was selected to play in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl. In addition, he was a Phil Steel Preseason All-Conference punt returner. By the end of his senior season, he led the nation among FCS schools in career active leaders in kick return yards with 2,422.
Coleman, the brother of Averett assistant head coach Cornelius Coleman, graduated from Robert Morris with a degree in sports management in May 2012. He is working toward his masters of business administration from Averett.
