Averett University Athletics

Barbara Kushubar is one of the faculty athletic mentors (FAM) for the Averett University football team. Kushubar brings more than 24 years of experience in teaching, coaching, and sports administration to the classroom.

Kushubar, an associate professor of physical education, wellness, and sports science, is a former student-athlete at Averett where she played field hockey, tennis, and basketball. She has also coached volleyball, women’s tennis, field hockey, and women’s basketball in her time at Averett. In addition to coaching, Kushubar was the assistant director of athletics for two years. Additionally, she has received the Faculty Appreciation Award from the football team four times.

She is also involved with several community service groups in the Danville region including working with the First Tee Foundation and the Danville City Schools Health Board.
