Bruce Devlin joined the Averett University football program as a volunteer assistant coach in February 2023.
Devlin, who also serves as Averett's Director of Facilities/Chief of Campus Safety and Security, has an extensive background in coaching football. He was the varsity football head coach at Princeton Day School from 1998-2009, going 80-30 overall with three league championships and two state titles while twice being named the Coach of the Year in New Jersey and producing 65 student-athletes who went on to play football collegiately. He also earned as the varsity baseball coach at Princeton Day during the same period, totaling a record of 190-42 with six league titles and three state titles while being named the state's Coach of the Year twice and sending 90 student-athletes to college. Devlin then served as the football offensive coordinator and baseball head coach at Dwight-Englewood School from 2010-16. His baseball program at Dwight-Englewood went 90-25 with one state title and he was named the Coach of the Year.
Devlin also coached the New Castle Saints semi-pro football team to four Mid-Atlantic championships with an overall record of 48-12. In total, six of his former student-athletes went on to the NFL and eight went on to Major League Baseball.
A native of Ewing, New Jersey, Devlin graduated from Miami Dade College with a bachelor's degree in business. He lives in Danville with his wife Tammy and kids.
