David Clark joined the Averett University football staff in the spring of 2016. Following the 2018 season, Clark was promoted to defensive coordinator after serving as the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator for three seasons.

Clark came to Averett from Guilford College, where he coached for four seasons. During his final three seasons with the Quakers, he was the linebackers coach and helped produce five all-conference linebackers, including one all-region selection.

Prior being named Guilford’s linebackers coach, Clark coached the Quakers’ running backs for one season. He also gained valuable experience as a student-assistant with the Guilford football program from August 2009 through November 2011.

A native of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Clark played two seasons for Guilford. He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports studies education from Guilford in 2011.
