Don Warren was named the Averett University football program’s defensive line coach in June 2020 after coaching the same position group for two years as a graduate assistant coach.
Warren played four seasons for Averett before serving as a graduate assistant during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Averett’s defense set several marks in 2019, including the conference record for most team sacks in a season (37) and total defense in a game (9 yards).
Warren, a native of Indian Trail, North Carolina, played four seasons at Averett on the defensive line. Warren totaled 125 career tackles with 25 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. He also had one interception, one fumble forced and one fumble recovery, along with one blocked kick. In the classroom, Warren earned USA South Academic All-Conference honors. In addition to his playing experience, Warren also has helped coach at Averett's prospects camp.
Warren graduated from Averett in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and completed his master's of education degree from Averett in May 2020.
