Jay Cole joins the Averett football coaching staff as an assistant for the 2011 season. Cole will serve as the wide receivers coach.
Prior to joining Averett's staff, Cole was an assistant football coach at nearby George Washington High School during the 2010. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Halifax County High School from 2005-2009 and an assistant at Carroll County High School from 2001-2004.
In addition to coaching, Cole is a teacher at George Washington High School, and prior to that he taught at Halifax County High School.
Cole graduated from Emory & Henry in 2001 with a degree in Physical Education.
