Ka'seim Black '20 was named as Averett University's Co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach in May 2021 after originally joining the football staff as an assistant coach working with defensive backs in July 2020. Black returned to Averett as a coach following a four-year playing career with the Cougars.
A defensive back from Kannapolis, North Carolina, Black played 24 varsity games, including starting all 10 his senior season in 2019 when he had 25 tackles, one interception and eight pass breakups. A team captain his senior year, Black was also impressive off the field. He was voted to the 2019 Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and was chosen to the 2019-20 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State Team. He also earned USA South Academic All-Conference accolades in each of his four years.
Black also participated in the 2020 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program at the national convention.
A double major in political science and history, Black earned his bachelor's degree from Averett in May 2020. He is pursuing his master's of business administration from Averett.
