Tim Reynolds Jr. was named the Averett University football program’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in March 2024.
Reynolds came to Averett after previously serving as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at Bridgewater College for two seasons from 2022-23. Prior to Bridgewater, Reynolds coached at NAIA St. Andrews University, where he was the associated head coach for one season after spending time as the offensive coordinator, field goal and kick return coordinator and equipment manager. There, he coached the program’s first NAIA All-American. Reynolds also coached in the 2019 NAIA Senior Football Classic as the offensive coordinator and has been the head coach of the Podyum All-Star Bowl in Miami, Florida.
Reynolds began his coaching career as the freshman defensive coordinator and the varsity quarterbacks coach at Yorktown High School for the 2015 season and has coached with Arlington County youth football camps since 2008.
Before beginning his coaching career, Reynolds was a standout at Ferrum College from 2011-14 as a dual-threat quarterback. His 63 total touchdowns still stands as the Panthers' career record and he ranks among program leaders in career passing yards and rushing touchdowns and single-season records in total touchdowns, passing yards and completions. Reynolds led Ferrum to a share of the USA South Athletic Conference title and earned USA South Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2012. After the season, Reynolds was a finalist for the Willie Lanier Award, which is awarded annually by the Richmond Touchdown Club to the best small college football player in Virginia. In addition, he earned 2012 USA South First Team and Roanoke Times All-State First Team accolades and received preseason All-America laurels from USA Football Network and BSN before the 2013 season. Reynolds was inducted as a first-ballot selection to the Ferrum Sports Hall of Fame in 2024.
In addition to coaching, Reynolds started "Real Talk Sundays" in 2020, which is an open discussion on life and the issues around the world today. He also created and is a co-instructor for The Course Mind Body and Soul, which teaches self-motivation.
A native of Arlington, Virginia, Reynolds earned his bachelor’s degree in health and human performance with an emphasis in exercise science and sport studies with a minor in coaching from Ferrum in December 2014.
