Todd Gilcrist Jr. joined the Averett University football program as offensive coordinator in August 2025.
Gilcrist came to Averett with a wealth of coaching experience ranging from NFL to Division III over the past decade. Most recently he was a Bill Walsh Coaching Fellow offensive intern with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as head coach at Division III University of Chicago, where he led the Maroons to a 13-7 record while also serving as the offensive coordinator and special teams coordinator. In just two seasons, he produced five All-Americans and more than 20 all-conference selections.
In 2019, he began a three-season stint as the offensive pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Division I FCS College of Holy Cross, helping the Crusaders win three consecutive Patriot League championships. Gilcrist was the wide receivers and running backs coach at Division I FCS Columbia University for four seasons beginning in 2015, coaching 10 all-conference selections at his position groups. He also served as an offensive intern, pass game coordinator and wide receiver coach at Division III Carnegie Mellon University for the 2014 season, the wide receivers coach and video coordinator at Division III Thiel College for the 2013 season and was the defensive backs coach at Division III Maine Maritime Academy in 2012.
A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Gilcrist played collegiately at Division I FBS University of Pittsburgh from 2009-2012. He began his career at Division I FCS Duquesne University, where he spent two years before transferring to Pitt.
Gilcrist earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Pitt in 2012.
