Treiston Burnette

Treiston Burnette joined the Averett University football coaching staff as defensive coordinator in February 2016.
 
Burnette came to Averett from Guilford College, where he coached for five seasons. During his final two seasons at Guilford, he served as the co-defensive coordinator for the Quakers, who went 17-3 during that span.
 
Burnette began his coaching career at Guilford in 2011 by assisting with the defensive backs. In 2012, he coached the linebackers before becoming the defensive backs coach in 2013. He continued as the defensive backs coach while also serving as the co-defensive coordinator for the Quakers.
 
A native of Siler City, North Carolina, Burnette played one season of football and baseball at Guilford. He transferred to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 2012. In addition to his coaching experience, he worked as a football operations intern with the Atlantic Coast Conference from 2008-2010.
 
Burnette and his wife, Jessica, have two kids, Mason and Maddox.
