Isaiah Jones

Isaiah Jones ’21 returned to the Averett University men’s basketball program as an assistant coach in August 2025 following a professional playing career in Europe.

A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Jones played at Averett from 2017-21. After missing most of his first season due to a season-ending injury, Jones went on to star for the Cougars the next three seasons. In 62 games at Averett, he averaged 11.7 points and 5.7 rebounds with 98 total steals and 78 career blocks. He was named to the 2019-20 USA South All-Conference First Team after averaging 13.3 points and was also named as Averett’s Dr. Tommy Foster Male Student-Athlete of the Year. In his final year at Averett, during the abbreviated 2020-21 season following the pandemic, he averaged 13.0 points over 13 games and helped Averett advance to the USA South East Division championship game.

After graduating from Averett, Jones used his final two seasons of eligibility at Division II Mars Hill University, where he averaged 9.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game
Over 113 career games spanning six seasons at two universities, Jones finished with 1,221 career points, 691 rebounds, 197 steals and 117 blocks.

Following his collegiate career, Jones played internationally in Estonia and Finland for two years. He scored a career-high 61 points in his pro debut for Estonia and helped his team with the second league championship.

In addition to coaching at camps and clinics, Jones served as an assistant coach with North Carolina Wesleyan University’s women’s basketball program during the fall of 2022 before beginning his pro career.

Jones graduated from Averett in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and communications, and he completed his master’s degree in management from Mars Hill in 2022.
