A.J. Harper joined the Averett University men's lacrosse program as an assistant coach in July 2019.
Harper joined Averett after playing at fellow USA South Conference institution Huntingdon College for four years. While at Huntingdon, Harper was a two-time USA South Conference First-Team performer, earning the honors in 2018 and 2019 as at midfield. Additionally, he helped Huntingdon win the USA South Conference Championship in 2018, which earned the team a spot in the NCAA Tournament. In 2019, Harper earned D3Lacrosse.com Honorable Mention Preseason All-America accolades, was a two-time USA South Academic All-Conference selection and once was named USA South Player of the Week. In 2017, he garnered SEILC All-Tournament recognition.
While attending Huntingdon, Harper was a part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Quality Enhancement Plan Committee (QEP). He was also a resident assistant for Huntingdon College Resident Life.
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Harper graduated from Huntingdon in May 2019 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is pursuing his master of business administration.
