Martim Sousa

Martim Sousa joined the Averett University tennis program as an assistant coach in August 2017.

Sousa played collegiately for three seasons at Division II University of Mount Olive, where he earned all-conference honors in singles all three years. After being named to the Conference Carolinas Third Team in 2014, Sousa earned second team honors in 2015 and 2016. He also was named to the all-doubles team in 2015. Additionally, Sousa earned the Conference Carolinas All-Academic honors and Conference Carolinas President Honor Roll. During his time at Mount Olive, he helped the Trojans earn a national ranking and win multiple conference championships.

Sousa gained coaching experience as a tennis pro at Brown Billone Club in Easton, Massachusetts, during the summer of 2016 and has worked multiple clinics.

A native of Ponta Delgada, Portugal, Sousa earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Mount Olive in August 2017. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in business administration from Averett.
