Taylor Hodges '19 joined the Averett University softball program as an assistant coach in July 2020, returning to her alma mater.
Hodges was a four-year member of the Averett softball program from 2016-19. The outfielder from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, batted .247 for her career with 56 hits, 43 runs scored, five doubles, four triples and 24 runs batted in to go with 15 stolen bases. She was named to the 2017 USA South All-Conference East Division Second Team after batting .322 that season before suffering a season-ending injury for the Cougars, who won the USA South Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Regional. Hodges was named Averett's 2017 Dr. Frank Campbell Sportsmanship Award recipient and was selected to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team twice.
In addition to her playing career on the field, Hodges was also active on campus and in the community during her time as a student-athlete. She was an Averett Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for softball and served as the SAAC secretary during her senior year. She also served as an orientation leader and was a three-year member of the Love Danville Council. She also was a four-year member of Kappa Delta Alpha, serving as the Community Service chair for two years.
During her summers in college and following graduation, Hodges worked with Minor League Baseball's Winston-Salem Dash, the Carolina League Single A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
Hodges graduated from Averett in May 2019 with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science. She is pursuing her master's degree in business administration from Averett.
