Hunter Crews

Hunter Crews rejoined the Averett University as a sports performance assistant coach in February 2023 after previously being a part of Averett's sports performance staff from January until May 2022 and had been working with Averett's sports performance staff since 2019.

Crews returned to Averett after working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Division II Mars Hill University from September 2022 until rejoining Averett's staff.

A native of Chatham, Virginia, Crews earned his Bachelor of Science in health and wellness with an emphasis on sports medicine from Averett in May 2020. He graduated from the University of Florida in August 2022 with my Master of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. Crews is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). 

In addition to his experience with Averett's sports performance, Crews is a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He also previously served as an assistant football and track coach and designated strength coach with Chatham Middle School from 2015-18.

While at Averett as a student, Crews was a member of the Cougars' football program for three seasons after transferring from Ferrum College, where he played his first two seasons. Crews was a member of Averett football's leadership council and was a team captain during his final two seasons.
