Katy Briedis joined the Averett women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in July 2013.
A native of Canton, N.Y., Briedis played her final three seasons at the State University of New York at Potsdam after playing her freshman year at the State University of New York at Geneseo. While at SUNY Potsdam, Briedis was a three-year starter at guard, served as the team captain her senior year and finished her career as the program's ninth all-time leading scorer.
Briedis graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Potsdam in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in math and secondary education. She was a member of Pi Mu Epsilon and Kappa Delta Pi.
In addition to her playing career, Briedis gained coaching experience at several SUNY Potsdam basketball camps and tournaments, and she also coached the Canton Hoopsters seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball team.
Briedis currently is working on her master's of business administration from Averett.
