Joanne "Scottie" Spalding has served as an assistant coach with the women's soccer team since 2008.
She helped guide the 2008 Cougars team to a 9-8-1 overall record, which included a six-game winning streak. In 2009, the Cougars finished 7-10-1 and in 2010, the team finished a program-best 13-7 and made their first-ever USA South Conference Tournament championship game. In 2011, Averett topped that mark with a 14-3-1 record and trip to the conference semifinals.
Spalding, a native of Erskine, Scotland, graduated from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma in 2008. At Northeastern State, she was a four-year starter and a two-time team captain. She graduated with honors with a major in health and human performance and a minor in psychology.
Prior to attending Northeastern State, Spalding played at the National Women's Football Academy in Durham, England.
