Henrique Leal joined the Averett University men's and women's tennis programs as an assistant coach in August 2023.
Leal came to Averett from NCAA Division II Catawba College, where he was an assistant men’s and women's tennis coach from 2022-23.
Leal began his collegiate career at Division II Belmont Abbey College, where he was the conference champion in doubles in 2019 and a team captain in 2020-21. He used his last season of eligibility at Catawba, where he was a team captain in 2021-22. Prior to college, Leal was a U18 Brazilian national champion in 2016.
In addition to his coaching experience at Catawba, Leal gained experience working at multiple camps.
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Leal earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Belmont Abbey in 2021 and his master’s degree in sport management from Catawba in 2023.
