McKenzie Miller '21 joined the Averett University women's volleyball staff an assistant coach with the program following her four-year playing career with the Cougars.
Miller returns to the program where she served as the starting setter from 2017-2021. Miller was a three-time USA South All-Conference selection, earning East Division First Team honors twice, while also helping Averett win three USA South East Division championships, including the recent 2020-21 USA South East Division Tournament championship in April. Over her four-year career, Miller totaled 2,846 assists with 362 kills, 171 service aces, 914 digs and 71 total blocks. A team captain, Miller was named the 2020-21 Barbara Kushubar Female Student-Athlete of the Year at Averett’s Night of Champions in April and selected to the 2020-21 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State First Team.
In addition to her playing accolades, Miller coached club volleyball for four years and also officiates volleyball.
A native of Danville, Miller recently completed her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in education, English and psychology in May 2021. She is pursuing a master’s of business administration with a concentration in leadership from Averett.
