Rachel Marquez joined the Averett University women's basketball program as a volunteer assistant coach in June 2024.
At the time she joined Averett's program, Marquez had served as the head coach of GC Heat's middle school boys' and girls' basketball teams and was an assistant coach with the high school varsity girls' team since 2021. Her coaching experience also includes time as head coach of AAU AZ Elite's 14U boys' and girls' basketball teams from 2010-12.
Marquez played collegiate basketball at Grand Canyon University, York University (Nebraska) and South Mountain Community College. She earned all-conference first team honors while at York.
In addition to her coaching experience, Marquez has worked as the director of health equity at Emory University's Diabetes Technical and Assistant Center and also previously served as an adjunct faculty member at Elon University from 2018-20. Her career in healthcare also includes time as the regional operations director at Galileo, as well as stints as director, administrative fellow and healthy communities program manager at Cone Health.
