The 2013-14 Cougar Club Female Student-Athlete of the Year Award went to senior volleyball player Allison Sparks. The Ruffin, N.C., native had a senior season anyone would envy. In addition to leading the volleyball team to the USA South Conference North Division championsip, she was named the USA South Player of the Year and earned on a spot on the USA South All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team. She also was named the Co-Player of the Year and a First Team selection by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Her biggest honor came from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). After earning AVCA All-Region honors, Sparks was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team, becoming the third player in program history to earn All-America honors. Off the court, she was just as successful, maintaining a 3.73 GPA as an elementary education major.
