Cougar Field is home to the Averett University softball program. Located on the school's North Campus, Cougar Field serves as the Cougars' own 1.0-acre ballpark and practice facility. The park is a natural grass field with dimensions of 210 feet down the lines and 225 feet to center field. The field, which was built in 1998, features home and visitor dugouts, multiple soft-toss nets, a press box and bleacher seating to go along with a hillside seating area available for spectators. There is also room for seating to the right side of the home dugout and the left side of the visitor dugout.

Before the 2012 season, Cougar Field received several upgrades. A state-of-the-art seven-inning LCD scoreboard was installed in left field, and the outfield fence was fitted with a navy blue windscreen with yellow piping.

The Averett softball program also uses the Frank Fulton Sr. Indoor Batting Facility as one of its training facilities.
