THE SERIES

NOTABLE
• Averett is 4-5 in conference openers under head coach Mike Dunlevy, including 2-0 in the past two seasons. Averett is 5-3 following bye weeks under Dunlevy.
• Running back Ke'Von White, tight end Wynton Stephens and wide receivers Anthony Bowles and Timothy Lovick all scored their first collegiate touchdowns in Averett's 35-21 win over Guilford College on Sept. 17. White had two touchdowns in that game.
• Averett recorded four interceptions against Guilford, marking the first time the Cougars had four picks as a team in one game since 2008.
• Three Averett football players earned recognition on Sept. 19 from the USA South Conference. Junior kicker Brad Scott was named the USA South Special Teams Player of the Week, while freshmen Ke'Von White and Casey Kessler earned Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Week, respectively.
• Averett is wearing 'RQ” helmet decals in memory of former player Rick Quintanilla,  23, who recently passed away after a 51-month battle with brain cancer. Quintanilla played for Averett from 2005-06 and was on the 2006 championship team.
