DANVILLE, Va. — The Averett University women's soccer team fell to Meredith College in a 3-0 home loss on Saturday afternoon to end a four-game winning streak.
Averett (4-10-0, 4-5-0 USA South) got shots off early, but the Cougars were unable to kick the ball past Meredith's goalkeeper Jaisa Lock, who was named the USA South's Player of the Week on Monday.
With Meredith McCarty's goal in the 18
th minute, Meredith (11-3-0, 9-0-0) had a 1-0 lead at the break.
The Avenging Angels scored two more goals in the second period, including a boot from Danielle Lee on a feed from Rachel Didier.
The Cougars travel to Georgia next weekend to take on Covenant College at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Piedmont College at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
