LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. — The Averett University women's soccer team lost 2-1 on the road to Covenant College on Friday afternoon.

Both teams were scoreless in the first period, but Covenant (8-8-1, 6-3 USA South) jumped ahead early in the second half when Anna Porch netted the ball after it was deflected off Averett's goalkeeper

Cathrine Onarheim scored the first goal of her career on an assist from freshman midfielder
Amanda Gustavsson to tie game at 1-1.

Averett (4-11, 4-6 USA South) managed to hold off the Scots until the 78th minute when Christy Barton's boot made its way to back of the net to score the game-winning goal. Â

The Cougars travel to Demorest, Georgia, on Saturday to play Piedmont College (12-4-1, 8-1-1 USA South) at 4:30 p.m. Piedmont is coming off 2-1 win over Greensboro College in double overtime.
