Averett (2-7, 1-4 USA South) picked up five consecutive singles victories to open the day. Freshman
Hannah Mattson defeated Alexandra Cincinnati 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to kick things off in the No. 1 spot and junior
Jessie Gomes picked up where Mattson left off beating Alayah Austin 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 singles spot, sophomore
Riley Smith won her match 6-1, 6-4, while sophomore
Katie Abelseth took the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore
Annalies Jobsis took the No. 5 singles match 6-4, 6-1 to complete singles action on the afternoon.
The Cougars were dominant in doubles play as well, sweeping Mary Baldwin (1-8, 1-5 USA South) in all three matches. Mattson and Abselseth won the No. 1 doubles match 8-6 and Gomes and sophomore
Angelica Orlikowski picked up an 8-4 win in the No. 2 doubles spot. Smith and Jobsis complete the sweep in the No 3 doubles spot, crushing Jochebed Koomson and Sakurako Ishii 8-0.
Averett returns to action on March 27 when it travels to West Point, Georgia, to take on Point University at 1 p.m.
