DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University volleyball remained unbeaten in USA South Conference play with a pair of victories Saturday as the Cougars hosted a conference quad match. Averett dispatched Huntingdon College 3-0, then swept LaGrange College 3-0.
Averett (14-6, 6-0 USA South) cruised past Huntingdon (6-14, 2-4 USA South) to open the day, winning 25-13, 25-14, 25-17. Junior
Hannah Shields' double-double of 15 kills and 10 digs paced the Cougars' attack, which posted a .298 hitting percentage as a team against the Hawks. Junior

Brianna Williams each made six kills, while sophomore
Emily Stanley tallied nine digs. Sophomore
Keenan Marks had a team-high 29 assists, and Williams and senior
Brittany Daley each had three total blocks.
To finish the day, Averett beat LaGrange 25-16, 25-16, 25-16. The Cougars dominated from the start against the Panthers, building a 12-3 lead in the opening frame and an 8-0 advantage in the second set. As a team, Averett had a .337 hitting percentage against LaGrange (12-8, 2-4 USA South). Individually, Shields had a team-high 16 kills, while Williams had eight. Stanley and junior

William Peace University (14-5, 5-2 USA South) also participated in Saturday's quad match. The Pacers edged Huntington 3-1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18), then beat LaGrange 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-19).
Averett hosts another USA South quad match on Sunday. The Cougars will face Agnes Scott College at 10 a.m. and Piedmont College at 4 p.m. William Peace will play the middle matches, taking on Agnes Scott at 12 p.m. and Piedmont at 2 p.m.
