FERRUM, Va. — The Averett University women's soccer team fell behind early with in a 3-1 conference loss to Ferrum College on Sunday night at Penn-Roediger Field.

Ferrum (7-4, 5-2 USA South) used two quick goals in the first and second periods to gain a 2-0 advantage over Averett, and the Cougars were unable to bounce back from the deficit. By the time the Panthers took a 3-0 lead, Averett (6-4, 4-3 USA South) attacked the goal and found a way to prevent a possible shutout.

Averett takes the field again on Tuesday, Oct. 4, but will have a break from conference action. The Cougars host Bridgewater College at 5 p.m. at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.Â
